Lake Puddingstone is a man-made body of water formed by a dam.
It has attracted flocks of Mallards and Canada Geese who stay to raise ducklings and goslings.
Sadly, Puddingstone is also the place where people dump unwanted pets. Luckily, one big white domestic goose found companionship among the Canada Geese. Loneliness? Safety? Problems solved, thank the geese! (Clearly the geese are not racist.)
Then when the Canadas began brooding and hatching those adorable yellow goslings, Mama Goose’s protective and nurturing instincts kicked in! Over the last few months, we’ve watched her guard, protect and nurture the goslings.
I don’t approve of pet dumping…imagine the confusion and loneliness Mama Goose endured before the Canadas accepted her. And how frightening and dangerous the strange park must have seemed. Wild coyotes, wild dogs and wild cats live in the park too.
But she seems to have found purpose and family at Puddingstone. And the geese seem to love her too.
