Fumigation Staycation! With our Dog Zeus!

Good times, sunny skies and great food. These are things you don’t think of when you hear extermination.

Three weeks ago we had an exterminator come by to check out our front yard window for possible termites and to our surprise, they found some not only in the front but also in the attic. After presenting us with different options we decided to do a full tenting and extermination of the termites. This meant being out of our house for an entire weekend.

Ryan and I made the decision to take the weekend as a little staycation and take our little pup Zeus along with us. We decided to start off our weekend at a dog friendly hotel The Kimpton Shorebreak Resort.

We started off our Friday waiting for the exterminators to arrive. They provided us with a window of 1PM-3PM and to out surprise they arrived at 11AM. After packing our car and getting Zeus ready for our drive, we were on our way. We live near a cute little coffee spot The Cupcake Espresso Bar where we grabbed coffee and a pastry for the road.

We arrived at the Kimpton Shorebreak Resort a little after 2 PM and we were greeted by the friendliest staff. Zeus was a little tired from the trip and too excited and shy to

stand still for a picture but nonetheless we checked in an headed to our room.

The amenities at this place were incredible, we were steps from the beach they offered a happy hour with complimentary wine and beer and even had a s’mores box to enjoy by the fire.

After dropping off our luggage and getting Zeus set up we headed out for a day to find the dog beach.

What can I say about Zeus first time at the beach. It was sweet and cute. I don’t remember my first time at the beach but watching someone else experience it made my heart smile. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for this sweet boy and taking him to the beach was one of those things that I’m happy we did.

Social Hour

On the way back from the dog beach we stopped by some water and waited for the social hour to start, we realized we should probably get a little more dressed up so we went upstairs and freshened up. We came back down enjoyed two drinks each, s’mores and great conversations with other pawrents at the hotel. Zeus was such a good boy just enjoying the heat of the fire pit. It was then time to eat at our favorite restaurant.

This place has been mine and Ryan’s favorite burger spot for over 5 years. ALWAYS order the wings. They are the best wings I have tasted and every single time we go, we order them. You can build your own burger or choose a selected one, I got the classic. Their drink menu is an entire booklet and on Fridays they have live music. They also have a pet friendly patio. Our waiter LOVED Zeus and made him feel super comfortable.

We went on another light walk after dinner so that Zeus can find a spot and after what seemed an hour we finally went back to the room to turn in.

We woke up early morning on Saturday about 7am to take Zeus out and then decided to try out the hotel restaurant.

We were a little skeptical about eating at the hotel but we woke up so early, it was the only restaurant that was open nearby that was pet friendly. It was incredible. The coffee was from La Colombe which was bold and absolutely delicious. Then we went with the Steak and Eggs and the Hideaway Hash Benny. The coconut rice they used for the Benny bowl was flavorful and it brought everything together including the spicy sausage. I want to experience it all over again.  The potatoes on Ryan’s Steak and Eggs were seasoned to perfection and somehow remained whole on the outside even though they were super soft on the inside.

We ended up leaving shortly after that but not before Zeus took a little nap on the bed.

The rest of the weekend we spent with our parents who fed us and spoiled us all weekend. We hit up Lazy Dog in Rancho Cucamonga and Heritage Park for Zeus Walk on Sunday Morning. See pictures below.
